Muse: Becca Young

I met Becca a few months back when I was visiting friends and family at home in Arizona. She made friends with one of my best friends, Courtney, and we all together went to go see Courtney in her wedding dress for a fitting. I immediately felt like an ass when I asked Becca if I could have “shotgun”, or the front seat, because I get so carsick. Especially when Courtney drives! But she was so gracious and cool about it, and didn’t make me feel worse than I already did (I later found out she also gets carsick… damnit!). We became fast friends and realized we had a ton in common. I started to follow her work more and admired her incredible talent for fashion photography. When I went back for Courtney’s wedding (which was so beautiful and awesome and fun) Becca and I decided to get together and do a vintage fashion shoot, naturally. I could not be happier with the results and cannot wait to work with Becca again in the future. Below, in our Frockify Q&A series, meet Becca Young.

1) Describe when and how you got interested in photography.
I was introduced to photography at a young age when my dad would take my sister and I on trips and teach us about photography. In high school I took film photography and those two experiences had me hooked.

2) What is your favorite thing or place to shoot?
My favorite thing to shoot is still life; especially sweets. I really love to photgraph cakes with floral arrangements, but not necessarily all food types.

3) Where can we find your work online?
You can find my work on my website, Instagram and several other local artist's websites. You can find some of my work here:

4) How would you describe your photography style?
I would describe my photography style as vibrant, light and clear. I really strive to focus on the quality of the image as well as the clarity of them.

5) What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I like to explore the city with friends and find new places to eat or hanging out at home with my kitty watching some good tv.

6) If you could photograph one person (dead or alive) who would that be?
I don’t have a person in mind that I would want to photograph, but I can say that I would love to photograph the small, unknown towns of Europe.

                        7) What is one thing that most people do not know about you?
Most people don’t know that I’m really quite shy and scared when it comes to social events.
